What can you expect from this epic Atari game?

In 2019, Atari Breakout will have it’s 37th Birthday - 37 years since this classic video game was released! Today, anyone can relive the simple but addictive fun on our web browser version. When playing this title, expect the following features:

  • Simple game controls
  • Fast-paced reflex game action
  • Different power-ups to boost your paddle
  • A range of block configurations and levels
  • Three difficulty levels

The power-ups have been boosted and improved from the original version. Players can obtain a multi-ball power-up - this fires off several new balls and gives you extra chances to smash the blocks. There is also a cool gun platform power-up - this gives your paddle twin cannons that automatically fire.

Try to get the power-ups as they will improve your chances of completing the level. Don’t sacrifice the original ball to get power-ups however as you could end up missing it and failing!

How can you play this version of breakout?

To play the game, all you need is a web browser and a mouse. First, players must start the ball moving by clicking the spacebar. Secondly, the players must then use their mouse to move the paddle left and right. Timing is essential.

As you play, power-ups and items will drop from the top. To activate these items, players must position their paddle so that it touches the dropped items as they fall. Power-ups such as the paddle gun fire automatically and no additional action is required.
