Bus Simulator: EVO is a simulation driving game that turns you into a city bus driver! Your job is pretty simple - follow your route, stay on top of traffic rules, pick up passengers at bus stops, and earn money to unlock better buses and new game modes. The better you drive, the more you get paid.

How to Play Bus Simulator: EVO

Bus Simulator: EVO eases you into your new job with a tutorial that walks you through your first route step by step. Follow the on-screen prompts, which will guide you through each action as it comes up, stressing the importance of following the minimap, signaling your turns, stopping at intersections, and pulling into your first bus stop.

You will see cues like "Follow the minimap," "Stop at the intersection," "Press E to blink right," and "Approach the bus station and stop carefully." Just react to each prompt as it appears and you'll learn the foundations of the game before you're out on your own. Seems easy, but the maneuvers can be a bit rough at first.

Driving Your Route

One of the most important things to keep your eye on is the minimap. This will get you to your next stop. The game will prompt you along the way, for example, to signal or stop at intersections, so keep an eye on the tutorial cues.

A few key simple rules to help you earn more.

  • Use your blinkers. Always signal (Q for left, E for right) before turning or pulling into a stop. You earn points for driving properly, and signaling is part of that.
  • Stop at intersections. When you see the STOP prompt, come to a full stop before continuing.
  • Stay in the bus lane. Your route runs along the dedicated bus lane.

Driving the bus uses a familiar layout. Press W for gas and S for the brakes, while A and D steer you left and right respectively. When you need to stop and hold the bus in place, the space bar hits the handbrake.

Gears

The gears are to the side. If you want to go in reverse, you will need to press the 2 key to shift gears. If you want to go back into drive, same drill, press 1.

  • 1 = Gear up (Drive)
  • 2 = Gear down / shift into Reverse

Other controls

  • Q = Blink left
  • E = Blink right
  • F = Open/close doors
  • L = Lights
  • K = Wipers
  • X = Cruise control
  • C = Change camera view

Stopping for Passengers

This is the part that takes practice. As you approach a bus stop, slow down and park perfectly within the green lines in front of the stop. If you stop outside the green lines, the doors won't open, and you can't pick anyone up. Once you're properly parked, press F to open the doors and let passengers board, then close them again with F before driving off.

Game modes

After you’re feeling more comfortable, you can head to the main menu, where you can see your cash and coin balance and choose a mode:

  • Career: Work through structured routes and objectives.
  • Free Ride: Drive freely with no fixed goals.
  • Company Management: Manage your bus company operations.

Some modes and upgrades are locked until you've earned enough money, so the only way to start is by driving routes to build up funds.

Getting Paid & Upgrades

After each route, you'll see a breakdown of your performance and earnings, including:

  • Route income
  • Driving skills
  • Weather bonus
  • Running cost
  • Bus multiplier
  • Profit

Better buses cost more to unlock, which means you will need to earn your way to an upgrade.

FAQ

How do you let passengers on and off in Bus Simulator: EVO?

To let passengers on and off the bus in Bus Simulator: EVO you have to position the bus directly on the green line bus outline, and then open the doors with the F key, shutting them with the F key once the passengers are on board.

Why won’t the doors open at the bus stop in Bus Simulator: EVO?

If you've pulled up to the bus stop and the doors won't open, you likely haven't positioned the bus properly within the green lines. The bus needs to be parked inside that green outline for the doors to work - pull forward or back up slightly until you're lined up, then try F again.
