How to Play Arrow Escape

The game starts with a short tutorial on Level 1, a small five-arrow puzzle that shows you the core mechanics: tap an arrow, and it flies off in the direction it points. Once you clear it, it’s no more training wheels for you. Level 2 jumps to a dense 65-arrow board, so expect the game to get more difficult, fast.

At the top of the screen, you'll see your progress counter (arrows cleared out of the total), your hearts, and the settings gear. Once the level begins, a countdown timer appears below the header, so you're solving against the clock.

Every arrow on the board points in a direction: up, down, left, or right. When you tap one, it slides along its path and off the board.

There are two main scenarios on the board:

• Clear path: The arrow escapes, and its route briefly flashes green. Your progress counter ticks up.
• Blocked path: If the arrow runs into another arrow, its route flashes red, it stays put, and you lose a heart.

An arrow that's blocked right now might have a clear path two moves later, so the trick is working out which arrows to free first.

Hearts and the Timer

You get three hearts per level, and every blocked move costs one. Run out, and the Out of Hearts pop-up appears with two options: watch an ad to get one heart free, or spend some earned coins for more. If you'd rather not do either, you can close the pop-up, but you won't be able to keep playing the level without hearts.

Each level is also timed. There is a countdown clock on each level, and you have 10 minutes to clear the board. Ten minutes sounds generous until you're staring at a blocked arrow with thirty seconds left. When the clock hits zero, the Time's Up pop-up appears with two ways to keep going: watch an ad for 60 extra seconds free, or spend earned coins for an extra 120 seconds. Close the pop-up without taking either, and you have to start all over again.

Boosters

Three booster buttons sit at the bottom of the screen, and they unlock as you level up.

• Hint (magnifying glass): This is available from the start. It highlights a safe move for you. The badge on the button shows how many hints you have left.
• Eraser: This unlocks at Level 3. Tap the eraser, then tap any arrow to delete it from the board entirely. It's perfect for removing that one arrow that's gridlocking everything else.
• Grid: This unlocks at Level 4.

When you run out of a booster, tapping its button opens the Get Booster pop-up. You can watch an ad to get one free, or spend 1,200 coins for three.

Next to the boosters, you'll find zoom-in and zoom-out buttons. You can also use your mouse wheel to zoom, which the game reminds you of on bigger boards. Zooming comes in handy when the larger levels get too detailed to read comfortably at full view.

Coins and Rewards

Completing a level earns you coins, with a base reward of 10 plus an ad-boosted option worth 200. Your coin balance shows in the top corner, and coins are what you spend on extra hearts (450 for three) and booster packs (1,200 for three). If you're playing without watching ads, budget your coins carefully, because hearts and boosters get expensive fast.

Tips

• Follow an arrow's full path with your eyes before committing, especially on dense boards. The collision might be way down the line where you weren't looking.
• Don't use your eraser too early. Use it when you find an arrow that's blocking multiple escape routes at once.
