Buy troops with the coin your soldiers earn, drag two of a kind together to merge them into a stronger rank, and lay out your line across the deployment squares. Then press fight and watch: the battle resolves itself, and all your decisions were made before the charge.
Five troop types form a closed circle, each dealing triple damage to exactly one other: ashigaru, samurai, yari, kiba, and onmyoji. Losing is how you learn a level's roster, and retrying lets you use the second attempt to bring the counter.
Widen your line by buying squares. Bank the war chest between battles. Call reinforcements mid-fight with a tap anywhere on the field. Every tenth level is a boss, and the campaign does not end.
